300 Kilometro Ang Paglalakbay

Have you ever gone into a province with no signal and no electricity? If you have. Do you think you can survive in that place? or If not. Do you think you can carry living in that kind of area?



Last Sunday, I watched "300 Kilometro", it was a 60-minute special documentary that aims to bring the two places and its people closer by opening their doors to the “ultimate outsiders”— five people who will explore, enjoy and educate themselves in a span of three nights and two days. And Drew Arellano, an artist/host who went to Sitio Latag in Occidental Mindoro to learn the culture and the kind of living they have in that area, and to convince the Mangyan tribesmen to take a big leap in Manila.

THE STORY
At first, he find the place strange but after going through the days, he find the people there nice and cool.

On Drew Arellano's First Day, he tried to interview the leader in the sitio (i forgot his name though sorry!) about how do they eat, where do they sleep, and the kind of living they have. The usual question you ask when you were new to a certain place. And afterwhich join them around the sitio and meet the people, most especially the kids. In the afternoon, he played basketball with the men and the younger boys along the sitio; gave a bubbles, skateboard, and a plastic pools, he teach them how to play with those things. And in the evening, they went to an inland saltwater and catch fish (it was a tribesman who swam and catch the fish in 5seconds), which amazes Drew. They cooked them and eat.

Second Day, Drew convince two of the tribesmen and one woman to explore Manila. The husband of the woman didn't allow him to go to Manila because according to him, nobody will look to their children when he's at work. Surprisingly, Roman, their neighbor volunteered himself to go to Manila which the team have agreed on. After the conversation, the three tribesmen namely: Bidoy, Gabin and Roman had immediately packed their things and take a long hour ride to Manila.

The Arrival. Ms. Isabelle Daza, their tourist guide and the very modern and highly-visible member of Manila’s elite fetch them to the airport and drop them off to their condominium. Isabelle tour them to their unit and help them get familiar to the things in the room. They got into the bathroom, the tribesmen were soo curious about it, like what was that? (Yes, they're soo clueless). One of them, go to the shower room (You know how the faucet was made nowadays, the shower and the faucet itself were located in the same place). He turned on the side of the faucet (which was unfortunately the switch for the shower) the water flow upon him, and he was slightly shocked with what just happened. Also Isabelle taught them how to flush the toilet and how the toilet bowl functions.

Third day, Isabelle got back to the condo, and prepared a breakfast for them before waking them up. They have a very good breakfast. and its the Tour Day.

The Tour. First Stop SM North, Shopping. They rode in the MRT, and upon their trip. They have ran across Pasig River, one of the men said. "I always dream to see Pasig River, and today, I see it already", he said originally in tagalog. As they reach the mall they shop.

Second destination, Ocean Park. They took pictures at the Entrance where the name of the place was located. As they walk around the place, the sea tunnel, where fishes and other sea creatures were seen, the tree were soo happy and amazed that they've seen different kinds of fish.

Third itenirary, Luneta Park, there, they met Patani, GMA7 comedian and a survivor cast. They've been treated to a popcorn and a ice cream. The Ice Cream. They bought an ice cream (which they didn't know that it was an ice cream. The Conversation: Tribesman1: Can we buy three of this? (pointing to the ice cream) vendor: sure, preparing the order. Tribesman1: thank you (upon receiving the ice cream), what do you call this? vendor: a dirty ice cream. Tribesman1: what are its flavor? vendor: mango, ube, and cheese. Tribesman1: ahh it was made by a fruit. vendor:yes!

Fourth journey, Bohol. One way to get there was through the use of an airplane. They went to the airport and immediately go to Bohol. Before they enter in the airplane. They touched it, like as if they want to know that everything was for real. They were so surprised that the airplane has the capacity of 100+ and that the airplane was that huge, since they just saw it in the sky, as a tiny airplane. All throughout the trip, the three tribesmen was just looking at the window, looking how high they are and how the cloud looks like.

Welcome to Bohol. They do Scuba, Plunge, and Zipline.

Back to Manila. They shop again, and Isabelle show them philippine map, and pointed to them where they at and where they'd go. Everyone was soo shocked that Bohol was that far, and that they had passed soo many cities before they reached it. Finally, they say goodbye and Thank you to Isabelle.

Drew, had talked to his friend, and took pictures of the kids, swim together with them at the sea.

Before the Arrival of the Tribesman and Drew's Last Day, he printed a copy of the children's pictures and gave it to them. The children was happy that they see a real picture, they could actually believe that the picture was handed to them has their faces on it. they looked at it as a mirror though.

The Arrival. The tribesmen told to their community most especially to their soo called leader what happened to them along the tour, and how nice Manila is. And also distributed to them their "pasalubong".

And everyone waa very happy as Drew Bids Goodbye to them.

At the end of the documentary. I realized soo many things like:
1. I am soo blessed that I'm introduced to the society.
2. That those kind of people really exists. they were like a baby, they're soo innocent.
3. They're life was hard, that I will find a hard time adjusting to their community.
4. They're life was soo simple, that they no need money at all just to survive.

I understand that not everyone loves pink, they sometimes think that it's too girly and too bright. But as for me, I soo love pink. In fact, I can even wear pink at school the whole week. hehehe and because of that, school staff calls me "pink" and not with my real name. However I'm loving it, it made me different from any other students at our school.

More so, my inspiration for this week's style is High School Musicale actress Ashley Tisdale.

Let's Party on Jupiter Street

Last Friday, May 20, 2011 I attended a Street Party together with my officemates and a few friends. The Street Party was hosted by the city government of Makati, and was sponsored by San Miguel Corporation. It has featured live performances by popular bands such as True Faith, The Dawn, Urban Nation, 4Ps', and 808 band.

It was fun, since it was the first event that I covered which I attended at. Because most of the time, I'm assigned to do write-ups for a certain event, and yet I was never allowed to go, since it was in conflict to our office schedule. However, my officemates told me that the Street Party held two years ago was way fun and nice than this year. I cannot agree or disagree on that since it was my first time to attend such. But the way they described it. I think, they have persuaded me. hehehehe

The party was divided into two, the stage was built on both ends which makes the partygoers be divided also (I find it weird though). And honestly, you can see the real 'party' at the VIP's side rather than on the other side. Moreover, they have also presented to the public the 24 candidates for this year's Miss Makati, they were all beautiful and sexy.

What's Inside My Bag?

There is a bag inspection a while ago at the office, it's just a trip inspection on my bag, because they are really curious why I always carry a heavy bag. So, for fun, my officemates looks what's inside my bag. Good thing, I'm about to arrange my stuff, so I allow them then.

Here's what's inside it:

1. pink wallet. It's not really what my wallet looks like, but it's pink. It's where my receipt, and i.d's are kept.

2. cellphone. Well, it's not as updated as other phones like blackberry and samsung but what I like most about it is that, it is handy, because it is small; it doesn't have memory cards or bluetooth, which is safe from any types of virus; it has a camera; it is not black and white, and it can easily get signal even if we are in the province.

3. camera. Everyone knows that I love pictures especially when I'm the subject (hahaha). I always bring it, because with the kind of job I have, I should be ready for documenting everything. Also I don't know who will visit at the office which I might like.

4. planner. I'm a busy person. Everyday is all about paperworks and meetings. So I need to bring it to keep my schedules on track. It's been my secretary for almost 3years now and I'm glad that those planner never disappoint me. Only the cancel hanging-out with friends schedule does.

5. cologne. My savior, and my refresher. I always apply this not just on my body, I spray it also around working area in the office, especially when my officemate return at his desk after his Yosi Break ("Smoking". It really smells bad).

6. Kit. my sanitizer, handsoap and a bug spray courtesy of Human Nature. Also a comb, ponytail and a wet tissue. Of course, It's a must for every girl, it's what makes me clean and protected from any kind of germs and insects.

7. mirror. this is what I must always bring because, my eyelashes just always get inside of my eyes everytime I rub it.

8 Biscuits. It's what I eat eveytime I had nothing to do or most of the time when I had tons of things to do at the office. It helps me perform my task appropriately.

9. Chocolates. Stress reliever and an easy to hide food. (I don't want to share it with them, SOMETIMES...hahaha bad girl).

10. Water Jug. I'm just not fond borrowing glass or mugs at the office kitchen because I don't know if it was clean properly or not. So to avoid borrowing, I bring my own water jug.

11. Handkerchiefs. Since we will transfer in our new office on July. Our current office (the old one) comfort room doesn't have a hand drier, I bring my hanky with me, so whenever I washed my hands, I had something to make my hands dry.

12. Charger and connectors. With all the phone calls and text messages I have to received and respond with, my phone easily dies. So I need this one to make it alive again. As well as some connectors for my pictures to be easily transfered in my computer.

Romantic Comedy: Lovely Complex

My cousin and I loves watching Korean, Taiwanese, and Japanese romantic comedy series or movies. And whenever I asked her what was the new series/movies she had watched on youtube, she will give me soo many answers. And the first movie she had recommended to me was Lovely Complex, which I definitely like. I even watched its anime series just to know if it was as great as the movie. And it was way too funny than the movie, maybe it was because it has a lot of episodes. Actor Teppei Koike was my crush during Gokusen days... hehehe

Lovely Complex is about two high school friends named Risa Koizumi (Ema Fujisawa) and Atsushi Ohtani ( Teppei Koike) whose height are not normal, the girl being tall, and the guy being short. That made them being chosen as partners by their professors since their freshman year. Add on to that, they share the same interest, and same experience when it comes to love. But awkwardness came, when the girl fall in love with the guy... And what happen next is for you to find out. =)

Malditang Sweet Exploration: First of Summer

I was excited for this exploration/sleepover because of two things: first, it was my first time to go an out of my city trip with my friends, second it was also the first time I conquer my fear.

We were supposed to meet at the mall at 9:00am (if i'm not mistaken), but since one of my friends requested to meet-up at 10:00am, we just decided to meet up on the requested time. hehe :)

Anyway, I call it an exploration because we were so ignorant(hehehe...peace!) about where to ride and where to find the right route. Yet, we finally discover everything little by little as we go along the trip.

Day 1: First stop, Mall of Asia (MOA) it is the biggest mall in the philippines, and was located at Pasay city. Okay, it was lunchtime when we arrived so I asked my friends to help me find the Seaside, a place where you can choose live sea creatures (e.g. crab, lobster, shrimp, fish, etc...hehe) and ask them to cook according to your preference. So there, we walk along the sides of the mall, and tried to look for the automated map(haha) sadly, it was placed to where the window was, so the sunlight reflects on the monitor that we hardly see where we were and where we should go. But we didn't give up, we look for next option guards, we asks for directions two guards helped a lot while others got us lost. After 1hour. It was a Success! Well sort of, it was 5 blocks away from the mall. Fail! Ending-- Gerry's Grill we ordered Gambas, Tuna Sisig and Seafood Rice. Solve!

While we were heading to our next itinerary we found an EXPO with the theme: Northern Mindanao Power 10'. It was soo beautiful I felt like as if I am in Mindanao. Philippines was really wonderful. :)

Next top, Star City, one of the nicest carnival in the city. It has changed a lot though. I think the last time I went there was wayback Elementary. Some of the rides was not there anymore, while more has been added. Which was great. :) One of the best ride(?) I ever thought I would ride on was the one in the Snow World. It was like you are going to get an inflatable small sized pool then you're going to get inside and up there in the snow the staff in the snow world will push you so you will go down to the landing area( it's like skiing). Next time We'll have pictures of us in action. hehehe :) Also, we had a chance to make the most out of the P150 worth of pictures at Pirates Booth.

Lastly, Sleepover, it was a fun tiring day. Glad to be home. I introduced my itouch to my friends: the ibook and also answer some english stuff quiz. Hehe

Hep! Hep! our exploration doesn't end there, We still have plans for Day 2. :)

Day 2: Megamall, the place where we usually hang-out. We watch Gnomeo and Juliet, a cartoon about two neighboring gardens which was at war and two gnomes who were inlove. it was also the first movie I watched in 3D, we failed to watch the start, but it's okay. It's not something I will worry though, the movie was not good to watched in 3D anyway. Maybe for kids, but not for me. Hehehe Moreover, I enjoy watching it because I am with my girl friends. :)

Pretty Little Liars

Ever since I was in college, I love watching American TV series. Started from One Tree Hill in North Carolina, to Gossip Girl in Upper East Side in New York City. And now Pretty Little Liars in Rosewood Pennsylvania.

Based from a popular series of novels written by Sara Shepard. Pretty Little Liars was aired on ETC last November 22. A series that follows the life of four Bestfriends right after their QueenBee was gone...

One night, five(5) best friends Aria Montgomery (Lucy Hale), Spencer Hastings (Trojan Bellisario), Hanna Marin (Ashley Benson), Emily Fields (Shay Mitchell) and Alison DiLaurentis (Sasha Pieterse) were having a slumber party in a barn in Rosewood Pensylvania and then, Alison just gone Missing.

A year after, Aria Montgomery went back to Pensylvannia after living in Europe for a year. But still got no news about where Alison was. So, after a year of not seeing each other, these four friends catch up as the school goes. Yet, in the middle of their not-so-good life, they have been all receiving text messages from "A", text message about their own issues which "A" only knew. Also after blocking her up to their emails, "A" sends her message through radio's, mails, and most of the time through sms which makes their life more miserable. Now, that Alison's body was finally found, What will happen to the four girls? Who is 'A'? What does she need from them? And Why does she keeps sending them text messages?
