The Story Behind the Magazine

Bad way to end campus journalism class... I didn't see it coming, verbal and physical fight. But before that, I'll just narrate how everything started.

MAGAZINE IN THE MAKING. after a week of writing an editorial, feature and news articles. Sir B chooses the people who have a potential to take the editor-in-chief position. Two of us were chosen Judith and I. But as I hear my name, I immediately decline the position, because of our Thesis. So, Sir B suggested that I should accept the managing editor position; whether I like it or not. Sir B gives us the power to use his class for us to assign the staffers. Ian and Mavs were the Associate Editors and Des was our lay-out artist.

WELL DONE is BETTER than WELL SAID. first three weeks, Mavs talks about how he want the articles be submitted. He said "since I don't have email add (like as if we believe in you) you must print your article and give it to me for editing." my classmates abide what he said, and pass their articles on time. Given that, I don't have the copy of all the articles, I expect Mavs to do his job, to edit the articles. (Which he didn't do).

SLEEPLESS EDITING. Judith, Karen and Ian have a conference every 9pm, to update each other about the articles they are editing. While they are editing the articles, Ian confessed that Mavs gave all the printed articles to him for editing, asking him to type all the articles (which he did). Honestly, the three of us, almost have a headache because of the articles (these articles needs a major revision)... WAAAHH... Most of the articles were REVISED by us.

MAGAZINE’s DRAFT. our editor-in-chief absent herself in the class due to some in contingencies. Gladly, I kept the entertainment and feature articles. So I submit it on time, asking Sir B to give us until friday for the editorial and news articles. As I submit the articles I was shocked that Mavs also submits a 4pages-editorial. I asked him if it was submitted to Judith for approval. And he said "no, it might cause a delay, I’ll just submit it to Sir B." Mavs, we have a protocol to follow. I said. (Thank you for not listening.)

BY-PASS. Mavs submits all his articles straight to the lay-out artist. Too bad, I asked the lay-out artist to change his editorial picture.

PUBLICATION. we announced that the publishing company, that we have found charge P325 for each copy, and we need to produced 26copies for the whole class. Too Expensive? Unexpectedly, CARISMA interrupts us and suggests that, if the class wants to lower the cost. She has a friend who charges only P200 each... So the class has agreed to pay P200.

SESSION. Ian invited the class to hang-out at their house (drinking session). And Charles asked if we are sure, for giving CARISMA the authority to print the magazine at her so called friends publishing company. He shares how Carisma vanished to their education class, after getting the money they have contributed.

A DAY BEFORE CAMPUS JOURNALISM'S FINAL EXAMINATION. CARISMA gave the printed magazine to Des, and Mav's saw that his articles were not included and his picture was change... What he did was, he shouted at Des, asking her how does it happen? Out of fright, Des sits and get back to her blank test paper.

Bad way to end campus journalism class... Final Examination....

Everybody's taking the examination, and then suddenly Mavs came in, and started to whisper something to Sir B. After which,

Mavs: (announced) Mga classmate walang aalis, maguusap tayo mamaya after magexam.
Sir B: They can't stay long, they still have exam in their other subjects.
Mavs: basta yung may exam umalis na yung wala, magstay kayo. wala akong pakialam kung may lakad kayo. basta maguusap tayo. (He finished the exam first; so, he decided to go to the comfort room).
Sir B: ok, I want you to finish answering the test by 630pm. I can’t leave you here with Mr. Mavs, he’s very mad.

After the exam...

Now you explain your side(pointing fingers) Ms. Karen.

Or disapproved naming articles kung wala kang pinapasa?

Mavs: Karen, you don’t understand, I said I know my fault and it’s not my concern anymore.

(sigawan na kami sa room, galit na galit na si Sir B, wanting to stop us from having the fight).

Karen: oh un naman pala eh, sayo na mismo nanggaling, it’s your fault and you don’t care, so y complain now?

Mavs: eh bakit hindi mo ko tnxt?

Judith: Ah, mavs so kelangan talaga kami pa magttxt sayo?

Mavs: Walang naitulong? Nung first three weeks ng class nung wala kayong ginagawa nila Ian and Karen. Sino nagtake over, diba AKO? So anong sinasabi mo na wala akong nagawa?

Mavs: Pinasa k okay Des

Judith: Lam mo kasi Mavs, Di mo na ginagalang yung position namen eh, do you think we are not capable of editing your articles?

Irresponsible, kayo ngang apat eh.

Nahighblood na si ian(English ito)haha

Ian: Mavs, you are talking about irresponsibility, are you listening to yourself?

Mavs: please tone down your voice, I don’t like it, you are shouting at me, and it pisses me off.

Ian: No! you listen to me. If you don’t want me to shout at you, you better not start shouting at the staff. You jerk. (sabay balik sa upuan, kinuha yun bag,)

Mavs: follows Ian and start pushing him, trying to punch him

(humarang na si sir B and starts yelling at them. I am afraid, because His veins shows how mad he is. Like the next word that sir B will utter will cracked his veins out.)

Sir B: Stop it! Mr. Mavs, I don’t see this coming.

Mavs: (pointing his fingers in sir Bs’ Face and starts shouting at him) No sir, you don’t understand me, I don’t like what they did, and I felt bad about it, you are just taking their side and not hearing mine, (kicking chairs) God Damn it!

Karen: Mavs, you better back off, or I’ll report you at DSA.

(dakdak pa din sya)

Sir B: Shut up, I don’t want to see your face again. Get out of this room, You’re an education student and you’ll soon be a teacher.
